SI-2K HawkEye

With Hydroflex Deep Ocean Underwater Housing

To facilitate a simple compact fixed 65mm interaxial shooting commonly used for IMAX productions, Silicon Imaging and 3DCC collaborated on the development of the SI-3D HAWKEYE camera.

It utilizes the core electronics of two SI-2K Mini cameras with internal stereo sync and power distribution. The camera, the size of a Viewmaster, simply connects to a recorder with 2 cables. Lens controls can be mounted to the housing for Iris and focus adjustment. The Hawkeye is the ideal configuration for shooting underwater.

The underwater housing which is completely self contained and free swimming for the Hawkeye camera, Cinedeck recorder and batteries was developed by Hydroflex. It operates untethered, to depths of 60 feet. There is also underwater housing that supports the SI-3D on a mirror rig with fully motorized controls.

Productions that have used the SI-3D Hawkeye / Hydroflex Deep Ocean Underwater Housing:
“The Singing Planet”, Feature Documentary by the Oceanic Preservation Society, producers of the Academy Award winning film, The Cove.
